Lime Repointing

Our repointing work and repair work covers historical renovations, waterproofing and rebuilding decayed lime pointing. We can repair chimneys, walls, brick and stone work.

Lime mortar repointing is an essential part of maintaining and preserving historic buildings. Unlike modern cement mortars, traditional lime mortar is breathable and flexible, allowing moisture to evaporate naturally from the masonry and accommodating slight movement within the structure. Using the correct lime mortar helps protect historic brickwork and stonework from damage caused by trapped moisture, frost, and deterioration. Our approach to lime repointing focuses on carefully removing unsuitable or failing mortar and replacing it with a sympathetic lime mix that matches the original materials and appearance of the building. This ensures both the long-term health of the structure and the preservation of its historic character.

We use building sensitive tools and methods to remove the decayed mortar to the desired depth without damaging the masonry. It is also very important for ourselves and the working environment that we use dust extraction where possible.
